Why X31? The name comes from a reference to Exodus 31 where God fills ARTISTS with His Spirit so that they may make the Tabernacle beautiful. If you look at typology in the Scriptures, you're sure to run across scholarly consensus that hold the Tabernacle as a foreshadowing of Christ. It follows then that God used those first artisans to present Christ as beautiful to others, encouraging worship.
We are made to respond to beauty. I know that's a huge statement that I just hung out there, but I believe if you'll think about it for a minute, you'll agree that it's true.
The X31 blog is a place for the artists of Beaverton Foursquare, the church at large, and those in the broader community to share ideas and encouragement regarding their art. Whether it's an ongoing concern or a flash in the pan is largely up to you.
